Electric fields in plasmas under pulsed currents.
Electric fields in a plasma that conducts a high-current pulse are measured as a function of time and space. The experiment is performed using a coaxial configuration, in which a current rising to 160 kA in 100 ns is conducted through a plasma that prefills the region between two coaxial electrodes. The electric field is determined using laser spectroscopy and line-shape analysis. Plasma doping...
متن کاملHow does relativity affect magnetically induced currents?
Magnetically induced probability currents in molecules are studied in relativistic theory. Spin-orbit coupling (SOC) enhances the curvature and gives rise to a previously unobserved current cusp in AuH or small bulge-like distortions in HgH2 at the proton positions. The origin of this curvature is magnetically induced spin-density arising from SOC in the relativistic description.
متن کاملHydrogen-bond strengths by magnetically induced currents.
We present here a "non-invasive" computational method to estimate the strength of individual hydrogen bonds using magnetically induced currents. The method is calibrated using H-bonding dimers, and applied on Watson-Crick DNA base pairs and proton wires in carbonic anhydrase.
متن کاملComparison of cardiac and 60 Hz magnetically induced electric fields measured in anesthetized rats.
Extremely low frequency magnetic fields interact with an animal by inducing internal electric fields, which are in addition to the normal endogenous fields present in living animals. Male rats weighing about 560 g each were anesthetized with ketamine and xylazine. Small incisions were made in the ventral body wall at the chest and upper abdomen to position a miniature probe for measuring intern...
